15/07/2026

The Management Board of Oc Eo Cultural Relics in An Giang province has just issued a plan to organize the Oc Eo – Ba The Cultural Heritage Week in 2026. The Oc Eo – Ba The Cultural Heritage Week will take place from August 19th to August 22nd, 2026, at the main location of the Oc Eo – Ba The National Special Relic Site (Oc Eo commune, An Giang province).

The event is organized to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, and the 138th anniversary of the birth of President Ton Duc Thang. The goal is to awaken pride and a sense of responsibility in the community, especially the younger generation, in preserving this unique cultural value. This year's Heritage Week will be meticulously planned with attractive and highly educational formats. This is an opportunity to promote the image of the Oc Eo – Ba The heritage site to domestic and international tourists.

The "I'm an Archaeologist" program, organized at the Go Cay Thi site, will allow students to directly participate in simulated excavations, record archaeological diaries, and practice the arrangement and restoration of artifacts. With a minimum of 50 students per session, this activity promises to transform history lessons into a captivating journey of discovery.

Simultaneously, the "Journey to the Source – Exploring a Thousand-Year-Old Heritage" activity will be a field trip connecting the Oc Eo Cultural Exhibition House to typical historical sites such as Linh Son Pagoda, Linh Son Bac Pagoda, Go Sau Thuan, Go Cay Thi, and Go Giong Cat. A special feature is that participants will access information through a combination of live guides and an automated audio guide system synchronized via QR code at each stop.

Continuing the province's strong digital transformation spirit, the 2026 Heritage Week dedicates a significant space to the Oc Eo Digital Space and Cultural Documentation. This space will not only showcase research works, ancient texts, drawings, and maps related to the discovery and excavation of the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site, but will also guide the public in accessing the electronic library system and heritage information portal, along with interactive games (minigames) with prizes, stimulating students' proactive learning.

One of the spaces promising to attract a large number of locals and tourists is the Oc Eo Market and Exhibition of Typical Products, jointly organized by the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion. This space will recreate the bustling scene of ancient trade with stalls selling Southern Vietnamese folk food, street vendors, and unique cultural performances. Besides, this is also an opportunity to promote OCOP products and characteristic agricultural products of each commune and ward in An Giang province. The combination of heritage preservation and trade promotion not only enriches the content of the week but also contributes to the development of the local economy, bringing local products closer to tourists from all over.
The Oc Eo – Ba The Cultural Heritage Week 2026 is not just a commemorative event, but an affirmation of the value of an ancient civilization in the flow of modernity. With the combination of education, technology, and economics, An Giang is showing a correct direction: preserving heritage by integrating it into the breath of life, so that cultural values will forever be the pride of the land and people here.
