An Giang Province is located in the southwest of the Mekong Delta, 187 km from Ho Chi Minh City, with the following geographical location:

To the east, it borders Dong Thap Province for 107 km.

To the west, it borders the Gulf of Thailand.

To the south, it borders Can Tho City and Ca Mau Province.

To the north, it borders Kampot, Kandal, and Takéo Provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia with a border length of nearly 160.8 km.

After reorganization, An Giang Province has 102 commune-level administrative units, including 85 communes, 14 wards, and 3 special zones. Of these, 79 communes, 14 wards, and 3 special zones were formed after the reorganization, and 6 communes were not reorganized: My Hoa Hung, Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Nghe, Son Hai, and Tien Hai.
