On the evening of June 6th, at the Mount Sam National Tourist Area (Vinh Te Ward), the People's Committee of An Giang Province solemnly organized the opening ceremony of the 2026 Mount Sam Goddess Festival with the participation of approximately 1,500 delegates.

Attending the opening ceremony were General Le Hong Anh, former member of the Politburo and former Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Nguyen Minh Vu, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; former leaders of the Party and State; and representatives from central ministries and agencies.

An Giang Province delegates included Nguyen Tien Hai, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the An Giang Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Ho Van Mung, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang Province; and Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee. Comrades in the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee; Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province; former leaders of An Giang province from various periods.

The Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival is held annually from the 22nd to the 27th of April in the lunar calendar. For a long time, the festival has become a lasting spiritual anchor in the religious life of the community, not only for people in Southern Vietnam but also for people nationwide, while contributing to strengthening international ties and exchanges.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said that the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival in 2026 is taking place in the context of the first year the province has organized it after the operation of a two-tiered local government system, and also after one year of implementing the National Action Program to protect and promote the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival".

Festivals play a significant role in the cultural and spiritual life of the people of An Giang, embodying distinctive historical and cultural values ​​within the Southern Vietnamese cultural tradition. The cultural identity of the festival is maintained, practiced, and passed down through generations by the community, exhibiting a strong influence on spiritual and cultural life.
